Jira Coming soon

Overview

Publish announcements for your whole Jira site or for a single project. Live announcements appear as Jira notifications on every page and on an Announcements page, so important news isn’t missed.

Project administrators can publish to their own project without involving a site administrator. Also available for Confluence and Bitbucket.

Features

Five announcement types

Critical, Warning, Information, Success and Tip, each with its own colour and icon. Set a priority, pin it, or add a button link.

Scheduling

Set start and end times in your own timezone, or pause an announcement and resume it later.

Audience targeting

Show an announcement to everyone, or include or exclude specific people or groups.

Acknowledgement tracking

Ask readers to acknowledge, let them dismiss or snooze, or keep a notice always visible.

Delegated publishing

Administrators at each level publish to their own audience, without needing a site administrator.

Insights

See acknowledgements, dismissals and how many people each announcement reached.

How to use

Site console

Apps → Manage your apps → Smart Announcement Banner → Configure

Project console

Project settings → Apps → Smart Announcement Banner

Where readers see it

Jira notifications on every page, Apps → Announcements, and the Announcements tab in a project

  1. Open the right console

Open the console for the level you want to publish at. Site reaches everyone; Project reaches people working in that project.

  2. Write the announcement

Click New announcement, add a title and message, and choose a type and priority. The live preview shows exactly what readers will see.

  3. Choose how readers clear it

Pick Require acknowledgement, Dismissible (with an optional snooze) or Always visible.

  4. Choose who sees it

Choose everyone, or include or exclude specific people or Jira groups. Targeting never reaches beyond the console’s own site or project.

  5. Set a schedule

Optionally add start and end dates with the calendar picker, and check the summary line below the fields before saving.

  6. Publish and follow up

Save to publish, or save as paused for later. Use Insights to see who has read it, and Reset reads to show it again after an important update.

Good to know

  • Each console holds up to three announcements and runs one at a time.
  • Pause hides an announcement and keeps its read history. Delete removes both permanently.
  • Up to three live announcements appear as Jira notifications on each page, in priority order.

Privacy

  • Stores your announcements and which readers acknowledged or dismissed them, using Atlassian account IDs.
  • Recent reader activity is kept for 90 days.
  • Supports Atlassian’s personal data reporting, so data for closed accounts is erased.
  • Data is kept in Atlassian Forge storage. The app makes no connections outside Atlassian.

Our privacy policy covers every AryonForge app.
